Puppies are so cute. Well, so are puppy sandwiches. Your kids will love these biscuits made to look like puppy dog heads. The mouth is filled with leaf lettuce and salami wrapped with Sargento® Sliced Provolone Cheese to look like a bone. A pepperoni tongue completes these adorable kids sandwiches
Ingredients
- 8 lg. Refrigerated ready-to-bake biscuits
- 2 small Black olives, pitted
- 1 lg. Egg, beaten
- 4 slices Sargento® Provolone Cheese Slices
- 4 slices Genoa sandwich salami
- 1 leaf Green leaf lettuce, torn into 4 long pieces
- 4 slices Pepperoni
Directions
- Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. Brush 1 biscuit top with egg.
- Place remaining 4 biscuits on top of the egg washed biscuits and roll all 4 biscuits out with a rolling pin to about 1/2" thick.
- Cut a 1" piece of dough 3/4 way through on each end to make puppy ears. Fold up the pointed tips to make them more rounded.
- Trim the edges of the cuts for the mouth area.
- Place biscuits on a parchment lined baking pan. Brush entire top of puppy biscuit with egg, then place pieces of olive on top to resemble small eyes and a nose. Place baking pan in oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool completely.
- To make puppy sandwiches: Cut a slit at the bottom of the biscuit, where the mouth is, with a serrated knife. Cut the pepperoni into the shape of a tongue. Place tongue inside the mouth. Rollup a piece of lettuce, then place it over a piece of salami. Roll up salami, then place that over the slice of cheese and rollup cheese. Place cheese and salami rollup into the mouth of the puppy biscuit. Serve.
