This exquisite puff pastry recipe will have you preparing gourmet Italian-style appetizers in no time. These delectable palmier bites are carefully created with puff pastry dough, minced roasted garlic, sliced prosciutto and Sargento® Shredded Mozzarella & Provolone Cheese for that rustic Italian flavor everyone loves.

Ingredients
  • 1 pkg. (2 sheets) puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 Tbsp. heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tsp. bottled minced roasted garlic
  • 1 pkg. (3 oz.) sliced prosciutto (6 thin slices)
  • 1-1/4 cups (5 oz.) Sargento® Shredded Mozzarella & Provolone Cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped or thinly sliced fresh basil
Directions
  1. Open pastry and flatten with hands into 2 (9-1/2-inch) squares. Beat together egg, cream and roasted garlic; brush over dough, discarding any excess egg mixture.
  2. Place 3 slices prosciutto over each rectangle. Arrange half of cheese over each rectangle; top with pepper, then basil.
  3. Roll each edge of dough tightly into center until each side meets in the middle. Cover with plastic wrap; chill at least 1 hour.
  4. Cut dough across both rolls into 1/2-inch slices. Place cut sides down onto parchment or foil-lined cookie sheets. Bake in a preheated 400°F oven 15 to 16 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.
